Twenty-four Counselling Qualities

Counsellors are familiar with the person-centred core qualities of empathy, genuineness, unconditional positive regard, and non-possessive warmth. This book introduces twenty-four different qualities which are inherent in counselling. All are presented with the aim of adding something to what we already know and believe about counselling practice and the therapeutic relationship. Something of what I say may be challenging, or controversial, but I have written what I believe to be relevant and developmental.

The twenty-four qualities:

Courage, Empathy, Faithfulness, Gentleness, Goodness, Gracefulness, Humility, Justice, Love, Magnanimity, Mercy, Moral Values, Patience, Peacefulness, Righteousness, Self-Control, Selflessness, Self-Sacrifice,
Spiritual Knowledge (Spirituality), Spiritual Wisdom (Wisdom), Sympathy, Faith, Trust or Belief, The Fear of God, Truthfulness.
