Poems and Musings
This small book of poems and musings was written over many years by Dad (1901-82) and compiled by me and published in his memory. They reflect my Dad’s deep Christian faith and philosophy of life. I feel privileged to have had him as my father and from him I learned so much about values of life and we shared the same Christian faith. His aim in life was to love God and serve his fellow human beings.
Dad had no thought of these being published; he simply wrote them for his own pleasure and hoped that we, his family, might also enjoy them. About a year before he died he wrote them out in an exercise book and gave it to my late wife on her birthday.
In 2007 Jonathan Loving, a music student from the USA, asked permission to set two of Dad’s poems to music – Calvary and The Passing Years. I was also asked to give permission for Dad’s poem – The Nurse – to be included in an anthology of poems about nurses. However, although I have the music of the two poems I have no knowledge if the pieces were ever performed or if the anthology was ever published.
